Treasure Hunting is a term most metal detectorists try to stay away from. If you tell someone you are a Treasure Hunter chances are they are going to turn their noses up at you and tell you to leave their property.
Most People who don’t metal detect won’t understand that the junk and trash we dig out of the ground is considered Treasure in our realm. A broken harmonica reed doesn’t mean anything to most people but to the detectorist it is treasure. An 1895 Indian Head Cent is worth maybe 3 bucks but to the person using the metal detector who digs it out of the ground it is Treasure.
If you are interested in locating Treasure using a metal detector the first thing you need to do is to find a new term to use, very few people will let you dig in their yard if you tell them you are a ”Treasure Hunter”
